| THE Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC) says it has a large stock of aviation fuel.
Mr. Nasir Imodagbe, Deputy Manager (Public Affairs) of the PPMC told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday that there was no scarcity of aviation fuel in the country.
He said that the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) had assured him that they had enough aviation fuel in stock.
NAN reports that some flights were delayed at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja due to scarcity of aviation fuel.
The PPMC spokesman said that MOMAN informed him when he contacted them on the situation that there were two vessels loaded with aviation fuel at the Lagos port now waiting to discharge.
Imodagbe explained that another vessel was discharging aviation fuel at the moment. ``MOMAN is directly involved in the importation and distribution of aviation fuel. The PPMC comes in only when there are issues or a problem of scarcity.
``For now, l don't think there is any scarcity because l was just informed that there is no scarcity in Lagos .
``MOMAM is discharging products, just as they have enough aviation fuel in stock," he added.
Some marketers like the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) and Oil and Gas operators, however, said that they were not aware of any product scarcity. |
